TORONTO, ON – Aug 8, 2026—The Weston Family Foundation is pleased to share that our Executive Director, Lara O’Donnell, has been appointed to the Government of Canada’s Expert Task Force on Natural Capital Accounting and Nature Financing. 

Established under A Force of Nature: Canada’s Strategy to Protect Nature, the Task Force will recommend ways for Canada to better incorporate the value of nature into decision-making and to mobilize additional investment in conservation. It will review policies, incentives, and financing methods to attract private capital alongside public funding, acknowledging that public investment alone is insufficient to meet the scale of the conservation challenge. 

As one of 14 members, Lara will bring the Foundation’s perspective as a philanthropic partner, one that collaborates with governments, Indigenous leaders, researchers, communities, and conservation organizations to achieve lasting conservation results. This appointment reflects the Foundation’s commitment to collaborative efforts that strengthen conservation across Canada.
